RIVER DOCE WATER

The Mariana dam collapse released 43.7 million cubic meters of mine tailings into the River Doce, causing a toxic brown mudflow that polluted it. Six years later, the water was still contaminated. The companies responsible for the disaster have been claiming that the water is safe to use as drinking water. To demonstrate their lack of confidence in their own statements, we offered them a sample of the water.
